Day 3- more demos and pizza

Today we hit the Kokopelli trails again and rode a couple different ones that were a little tougher, but pretty fun. Most of these trails follow the edge of this canyon that must have been dug out by the Colorado River. A couple spots on the trail we had to get off and walk cuz it was just a little too close to the edge for us.

We both got to try a couple different bikes again, which are really nice on these rocks. I think Mike is going to start saving his pennies...

kokopelli and the colorado river

So we checked out the other trails today and they were really sweet. they all basically ran along the Colorado River and all these awesome Grand Canyon-like rock formations. Yes, mom... we rode along the cliff edge ;) haha!

we were out for about 3 hours and went back to the van for lunch, and noticed that there were a couple bike companies letting people ride demo bikes so we checked it out. Mike and I both spent the next 2 hours tearing up the trails on some sweet $3,500 full suspension bikes. We both know what we're asking for for xmas..... hint hint. long day, but it was awesome.
We saw a couple guys with busted up elbows, but nothing too hairy. Mike got a nice sunburn on his neck.

We went back to the festival after that for some more pizza, beer and a band.

Sadly, we learned that there are no sushi places open after 9 pm in this town.

addition to last night!

So- while yesterday was soaked with some good riding and many many beers, Steve thought it a grand idea to go for a late night, beer-infused ride....
After cranking around for a few we headed towards the hotel and Mike thought it would be a good idea to do a power slide at the front entrance of the hotel! Little did Mike's little brain know that the front circle was covered with slate, and as he gained speed and headed towards the front doors, everything kept sliding and Mike and his bike slid about fifteen feet and almost went THROUGH the front door had he not put his knee down to slow the momentum. ...
Steve almost wizzed his pants, Mike quickly got back up- and not being phased by anything, due to the numerous beers, we calmly walked into the hotel with our bikes.

festival day

Getting ready to head out to the Kokopelli trails in a few...Looks like great weather again
and WAY less windy. There's a bike shop there demoing bikes, so maybe we'll get to try out some expensive high-end rides.

The festival is in full swing today. We'll hit that after the ride.

Will try to get some more pix up soon... If i can find a decent connection.

saw a hauntingly good rendition of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters by some 70-year old rocker at the bar last nite...

riding @ bookcliffs

spent the day checking out Fruita and then headed out to the trails at the Bookcliffs. rode for about 3 hours... very cool trails! (would have been nice without the 30-40 mph wind gusts) some seriously fun descents after some EVIL climbs (hence the naming of the trail "chutes and ladders").

Schuetz was cramping up like a mof0 by the end. haha!

spent the rest of the day drinking at Poncho's Villa II then headed over to the Hot Tomato for some slices of 'Za and good beer.

going to karaoke now..... ouch!
